"We designed these semi-permanent point of sale displays for world famous brand Sika to show off their adhesive products in hardware retail stores."

Semi-permanent point of sale displays for shelve areas

Custom designed small point of sale displays for hardware stores

Genesis Retail Displays is a point of sale display design agency in Sydney that can create, manufacture and distribute POP displays for products that are to be sold in hardware stores like Bunnings, Mitre 10 or retail similar sites in Australia. For this design brief, global brand Sika engaged our point of sale design company in Australia to come up with some ideas to display their range of adhesive products in retail.

Most homeowners in Australia will have heard of the Sikaflex range of adhesives that is available for lots of different applications. They are sold in tubes that are typically presented on the shelf in their cardboard shipper boxes to suit the warehouse style environment they are typically sold in. Sika needed to promote a new line of product and wanted them to stand out and grab the attention of shoppers browsing the aisle bays in places like Bunnings and Mitre 10.

We were tasked with coming up with some new design ideas that would prominently feature their triangular-shaped logo and hold up to ten tubes comfortably. To keep costs under control we provided two options, the first made out of cardboard and the second out of acrylic.

Both of these point-of-sale design options would create semi-permanent point-of-sale options to enable Sika to have these placed in an aisle, on an end cap, in the tradies section or even at the cash registers. While most marketing people will think of semi-perment as something that is made out of metal, wood or even glass, it is quite possible for cardboard or acrylic to last a long time in a retail store as well. It is a cheaper alternative to semi-permanent display manufacturing.

The point of sale design brief had to include prototypes and testing to make sure the units could hold the weight of the multiple tubes. We always do this as part of our process and will typically include a higher tolerance in our industrial design stage to ensure there is never any sagging or products tilting over due to fatigued elements.

The other design aspect that we incorporated into this shelf display was the ability to store a brochure or leaflet with an integrated holder in the header card area. This is disguised a little bit with the unique graphic design applied to it, so that when it is empty it isn’t too obvious to passers by.

The stands needed to also suit different product types, so the base was designed to be a single colour with logo, while the header card could be removed to suit different products, seasons or promotional offers. This ensures that each display can be used on multiple shelves or for different purposes during the year.

These extra design features can add to the cost of getting custom designed point of sale, but as you can probably already guess, it means you have a very effective solution that can be deployed into different retail environments, for different products & easily re-used for promotional activities when needed.

That is how you make point of sale displays a very cost-effective solution combined with working with materials that create a pseudo semi-permanent option due to high quality material usage.

What shapes & sizes can shelf displays be made in?

If you decide to buy a standard cardboard shipper from a bulk POS display company or online from an overseas supplier you will be pretty limited to what can or will be created. The benefit of contracting an Australian point of sale display company like Genesis is that we can take any idea and create a design that suits your brand, product, budget & promotional brief.

As you can see from the handful of sample images we can create nearly anything you can dream of. Simple cardboard shelf displays, modules that are moulded out of perspex or other materials can create temporary, semi-permanent or permanent shelf displays to be placed nearly anywhere in a retail store.

Small format point of sale displays make a lot of sense as they are the simplest ones to get placed in retail due to their relative size. Placing one near a cash register, in an aisle or even hung off the end of an endcap, there are so many possibilities because we can design each aspect by starting with a black sheet of paper.

Can a point of sale shelf display be pre-packed with products?

To deliver even more savings to Sika, these shelf display stands were designed so they could be pre-packed to reduce the required resources to get them displayed in the stores. Taking this step means that we will construct each shelf display stand, then place the stock in the unit ready for transportation to the stores.

This means in-store there is very little assembly required, store staff don’t have to load stock into them, set up time is dramatically reduced & you even save money on merchandisers.

The biggest benefit of all is that compliance rates go through the roof. You have retail stores using the shelf displays immediately rather than waiting for someone to come and do it for them. This is why retail store operation terms love working with brands that invest in point of sale displays.

As you can see from the photos above, ppre-packed cardboard display stands don’t limit your creative choices either. We are able to design a point of sale display that includes all kinds of attention-grabbing elements while still providing the most basic functionality of holding the stock while in transit & presenting it beautifully when it is on display in a store.

Our design team even creates the packaging that the unit is distributed in. This means every element of the display is managed down to the last millimetre to reduce shrinkage costs & maximise in store compliance.
